Just out of interest, generally speaking, how cool should the bottom of my rad be?? Its a 300tdi with a series rad. Heater gets warm now as i put a new stat in a while back, and the return pipe from matrix gets warm, top of rad gets warm, temp gauge says normal running temp. So on the surface all is normal. But the bottom of rad and pipe is stone cold... Does this seem normal? Im aware its march but id expect it to at least take the chill off?? Cheers

Think the problem is that you have a LR that's not got a problem. Having never been in that position I can only guess at how worrying that must be!

Hot water goes in at the top, gets cooled as it goes down and exits the bottom. In this weather it'll be pretty cold by then.

...and, in cold weather, the flow through the radiator is reduced by the thermostat.
